Did Governor Walker Really Repeal the Equal Pay Enforcement Act?

If you like carnivals, with lots of noise and bling, get to Wisconsin on the double—the show has begun. The breaks during the evening news are like a carnival, where the best barker has the loudest voice and the flashiest come-on. And these days, the biggest, loudest, flashiest barker of them all are Wisconsin’s public employee unions and the teachers unions. To hear them tell it, Scott Walker and the legislature have revoked the 14th Amendment of the United States. These barking fools want you to believe that the Governor and legislature have unilaterally nullified a portion of the Constitution and gotten away with it. Come on now, who would believe such nonsense? Hysterical, uniformed barking progressives, that’s who—from HuffPo to the Daily Beast. Well, I’m here to warn you about investing any of your confidence, let alone money, in these charlatans.

The law progressive bloggers are all fired up about is Wisconsin SB 202. Please, don’t take anyone’s word for what’s in it, not even mine. Pass right by the barkers and head for the gyp joints. We all know the only chance of leaving a carnival with anything of value is by using your skill to beat them at their own rigged game. It won’t be hard in this case, because the entire bill is only two-paragraphs long. Here’s the paragraph causing all the hullabaloo: (more…)

Why Assembly Member Jerry Petrowski is the Wisconsin GOP’s Best Choice Against the Left

Before Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald decides that Representative Mary Williams should be replacement for Pam Galloway in the upcoming recall election, he might want to consider Assembly Member Jerry J. Petrowski’s credentials, which are far more impressive than those of Williams.  A cursory look at Project Vote Smart reveals that Petrowski is a dedicated public servant and a steadfast conservative. His military service and strong commitment to his entire community (not just the privileged few who will heap unwarranted praise on him) is apparent even at first blush. The Democratic oppo teams aren’t going to find much on him, but I promise you they’ll have a hay day with Williams, and in so doing expose several other RINOs who take party money and then behave like tyrants. United Wisconsin-The Bullies on the Block

Wisconsin has anti-bullying laws covering both school and workplace behavior. Of course, the laws are vague, and what is and what isn’t bullying is left to the machinations of civil procedure and judicial opinion. The latest proposed workplace bullying law is the Healthy Workplace Bill. It reads in part:

This bill provides an exception to that exclusive remedy provision permitting an employee who alleges that he or she has been injured by being subjected to an abusive work environment or by being subjected to retaliation or a threat of retaliation for opposing an abusive work environment or for initiating or in any manner participating in an investigation, action, or proceeding to enforce the right not to be subjected to an abusive work environment (collectively “unlawful employment practice”) to bring an action in circuit court against the employer or employee who allegedly engaged in the unlawful employment practice for such relief as the court may consider appropriate.

Is the above not the perfect description of what United Wisconsin is doing to the taxpayers of Wisconsin? We have been repeatedly bullied for electing Scott Walker. This small (and small-minded) band of bullies has developed and sustained an abusive work environment for all taxpayers, not to mention our elected officials. It’s been one costly temper tantrum after another, with United Wisconsin leading the charge. Now, we’re being bullied again, and no one is stepping up to put a stop to it. (more…)
