A standard outline

Outlining is an important part of writing. Scratch that. Outlining is the important part of writing. It is more important than knowing big words. It’s more important than being eloquent. If you get it wrong at the outline level, you get it wrong period. As important as it is, you’d be surprised how many people don’t outline.

While I do both pre-draft and post-draft outlines for most of my print media pieces, I am fully aware that most people just don’t have the fortitude to do two. Most can barely get through one before they have put themselves to sleep. I understand. Here’s a technique I use to keep outlining interesting. (more…)
